IAA Europe Symposium: Artists Make Change
Bringing together a network of over 40 professional visual art organisations from across Europe, and artists in the UK, the International Association of Art (IAA) Europe Symposium 2025, “Artists Make Change”, is organised in collaboration with a-n The Artists Information Company and Liverpool Biennial.
Activism as practice, activism as survival, and activism as protest are necessary actions in a world dominated by economic and political volatility, precarious environmental sustainability, and the erosion of civil liberties and human rights. Artists are under siege, and there is a need for a united voice. Artist-led activism and advocacy can make political and social change, impacting positively on the freedoms and rights of artists, and the creation of new modes of artistic expression.
We believe artists see things differently offering much-needed perspectives that connect us. This symposium offers a platform for artists to share their experiences and insights, highlighting how collective action ensures that artists’ voices are heard and shaping policy at the highest levels and contributing to a more fair and equitable arts sector.
The International Arts Association community is bound together by a set of values and actions that centre on the freedom and the rights of artists. The Artists Make Change symposium has been developed through the lens of these values and creates space for debate and exchange of skills and knowledge in a safe and inclusive environment.
The full Symposium programme will be shared at a later date.
