The 18th General Assembly of IAA Europe took place in Vilnius, Lithuania on October 16th. The General Assembly and an accompanying symposium Art and War were hosted by IAA Europe and the National Committee of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. Additionally, LRT (Lietuvos nacionalinis radijas ir televizija) and a-n The Artists Information Company provided crucial support with organising the symposium.

The General Assembly was arranged as a hybrid event. There were over 40 observers and delegates from 18 different National Committees attending the General Assembly either on-site in Vilnius or online.

The General Assembly was hosted at the Lithuanian Artists’ Associations Gallery in Vilnius old town and via Zoom for online participants.

After the General Assembly IAA Europe and its National Committee representatives in Vilnius had the opportunity to visit Teemu Mäki’s exhibition “War, Gender & Nature” in Gallery Arka

The annual symposium of IAA Europe took place at the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius on October 17th. This year’s theme for the symposium was “Art and War” including presentations from the following speakers; Dr. Arūnas Gelūnas, Prof. Dr. Gintautas Mažeikis, Mindaugas Lukošaitis, Dr. Teemu Mäki, and Anjalika Sagar. The Symposium also featured a video presentation by Tetyana Chorna. A recording of the symposium will come available later on.

The beautiful, autumnal city of Vilnius offered an excellent setting for the General Assembly and symposium, fostering meaningful discussions and connections among the participants.

The 19th General Assembly and accompanying symposium in 2025 will take place in Liverpool, UK.
